  • Mission

Providing integrated ESL solutions securing the transition from project specification to implementation while improving team communications and building company knowledge-repository.

    Products

CoFluent Studio™ is an Electronic System Level (ESL) design toolset targeted at designers of complex multiprocessor electronic systems with rich application content, either multi-board, on-board or on-chip.

CoFluent Studio lets developers truly co-design their system with both its platform and application and make sound decisions very early on the project at 2 levels:

    • Functional: by observing and debugging very easily the timed behavior of the system’s application for detecting functional and real-time errors and obtaining timed executable specifications

    • Architectural: by rapid and interactiveexploration of the design space on the basis of a prospective performance analysis for optimally partitioning (hardware/software distribution) and dimensioning the system, including inter-functions and inter-processor communications aspects
    Our Difference

    Value Proposition

CAD tools available on the marketplace address software and hardware developments separately. Developers of electronic systems can no longer handle ever increasing complexity and sustain reduced development cycles with such tools. Furthermore, end-product cost reduction imperatives, increasing number of processors in a system and other physical architecture constraints make system architecting an essential and decisive concern to electronic manufacturers.

    ESL

    What's the point?
    • Take as many confident design decisions as possible by addressing all system-level issues
    • As early as possible on the project before implementation
    In order to:
    • Reduce development time thanks to parallel developments & implementation automation
    • Optimize designs (functionality, performance, cost, power, reuse, etc.)
    • Mitigate risks and avoid costly late errors with system-level verification
    How?
    • All project members interact closely upfront
    • Higher investment in modeling & architecting stages
    • HW/SW co-design & virtual architecture simulation

    Technology Background

The technology at the heart of CoFluent Studio results from French public research within the Ecole polytechnique of the University of Nantes (EPUN).
It represents 20 years of research by Professor Jean-Paul Calvez on a methodology for the design of electronic systems called MCSE (French for Méthodologie de Conception de Systèmes Electroniques) which is in public domain (5,000 books sold, more than 1,500 engineers trained).

Jean-Paul Calvez and his research team developed a software toolset which third generation code base served for creating the CoFluent Studio product. It is composed of multiple elementary tools and supports the MCSE hardware/software co-design methodology.

Developments were done in close cooperation with major OEMs who actively used and validated the concepts and technology in various European research projects including MEDEA+ MESA and in more than 20 industrial projects.
