| CoFluent Studio™ extends its performance analysis capabilities in v1.1 pre-release shown at DAC CoFluent Design adds to its system modeling and simulation toolset local and global performance analysis and exploration capabilities for: resource usage, power consumption, memory footprint, cost Analyzing the impact of design decisions before the real design starts CoFluent Studio helps designers of (micro) electronic systems take the right decisions in their project’s first 20%, when 80% of design choices are made. Decisions taken by designers impact 2 system design areas: The system’s functionality (including potential real-time constraints) The system’s performance for a given architecture (defining the implementation of the above functionality on a hardware/software platform) Analyzing the impact of architecture decisions on a complete range of performance indices Until now, CoFluent Studio supported a single performance index: resource usage. In its coming-up v1.1 version, 3 new indices are supported: - Power consumption - Memory footprint - Cost Each index can be observed and analyzed at all levels of the system’s hierarchical structure: locally (for one element of the hierarchy) or globally (for the whole system). Usually, the behavior and performance characteristics of elementary parts making up a system are understood and can be modeled. As CoFluent Studio lets designers model systems with simple graphics and C code, each local performance index can be defined as a constant numerical value or an equation written in C. However, the global behavior of a system is difficult to predict as it results from interactions and interdependencies between its constituting elementary parts, driven by given environmental conditions (use scenarios). Similarly, the global performance of a whole system is definitely not constant and does not equal the sum of local performances of elementary parts. As CoFluent Studio generates and runs executable SystemC models of whole systems, it automatically computes and displays the evolution of the above major performance indices over time, locally and globally, providing min, max and average values. CoFluent Studio for Timed-Behavioral Modeling enables designers to analyze the impact of design decisions on the system’s application and its real-time constraints, providing a timed-executable specification. CoFluent Studio for System Architecting enables designers to analyze the impact of design decisions on the system’s performance. Through display tools and a control panel for global performance analysis, designers try and compare different scenarios, explore various virtual architectures and pick the right one. CoFluent Studio v1.1 pre-release demonstrated at DAC’05 Hence, CoFluent Studio v1.1 enables designers to obtain early simulation results and expected performance values covering a large spectrum of design decision criteria. More than ever, CoFluent Studio helps designers take the right decisions for their embedded system or system-on-chip at the right time: in their project’s first 20% when 80% decisions are taken. The CoFluent Studio toolset is already adopted and used by world-leading mobile phone manufacturers, telecommunication network equipment manufacturers and semiconductor providers. CoFluent Studio v1.1 will be generally available for customer shipments in fall 2005. Pricing for CoFluent Studio for Timed-Behavioral Modeling starts at $5,000. Pricing for CoFluent Studio for System Architecting starts at $40,000. CoFluent Design exhibits at DAC 2005 on booth # 1872.
